Narrative Tones
All 13 tones, what each one feels like, and what to know before you choose Risque (18+).
Last updated About 2 hours ago
The narrative tone decides how aiga_ tells your world's story: the mood of each scene, how characters talk, whether they swear and how far romance goes. You pick it in Step 3 (Story) when you create a world, and every game in that world keeps to it. The story can still have moments of contrast: a Dark world can have a joke, and a Lighthearted one a scare.

The 13 tones
Choosing a tone
Pick a card: drag or click through the cards, or use the arrows. The tone in the middle is chosen, and its description shows underneath.
Some tones are hidden: Kids worlds don't offer Comedic (Profanity) or Risque, and Kingpin worlds can't be Risque. If you switch a world to Kids after picking one of those, the tone goes back to Lighthearted.
Change it later: open the world in the World Editor, choose a new Narrative Tone on the world's card and save a version.
Risque (18+)
Risque is for adults who want romance that goes all the way. The story can be sensual, erotic and explicit, always between consenting adults.

What it never includes
Some things are off limits in every world, Risque included:
Anyone under 18, or characters who come across as underage, including "aged-up" characters.
Sex without consent, including coercion.
Incest, including step-family.
Animals.
Sex trafficking or sexual slavery.
The full rules are in our Community Guidelines.
Who can play it
You must be 18 or older. The first time you pick Risque, or open a Risque game, aiga_ asks for your date of birth and two confirmations: that you are 18 or older, and that you agree to the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. You only do this once.
The world must be for adults. Risque needs the Adult reading age.
Not for Kingpin. Kingpin worlds can't use the Risque tone.
Where it's available
Risque is offered only in these countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, Poland, Brazil, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Czechia, New Zealand, Mexico and Argentina.
Everywhere else, it isn't offered. aiga_ goes by where you're connecting from, not by your account settings. In other countries the Risque card doesn't appear when you create a world.
If aiga_ can't tell where you are, Risque stays hidden.
Travelling? In a country where Risque isn't offered, you can't take new turns in your Risque games: you'll see "This narrative tone is not available in your region." Your games are still there when you're back.
What's different in a Risque world
It can't be shared. Risque worlds have no Share button and can't be published to Shared Worlds, so they can't be sponsored either. To share a world, change it to another tone first.
Games are private. You play Risque games on your own. They can't be Community Vote or Discord games.
Pictures stay suggestive. Even when the story is explicit, scene pictures keep characters clothed or covered, with no explicit poses.
No reference images. You can't upload a photo or choose a picture from My Images to guide how characters or places look. If you switch an existing world to Risque in the World Editor, aiga_ asks first, then removes the reference images it uses.
Turns cost a little more without a subscription. Each turn costs 20 more credits and each chat message 5 more. Subscribers pay nothing extra.
Hide 18+. Once you have a Risque game, a Hide 18+ switch appears with your games, so you can keep them out of sight on that device.
Tip: Want romance without explicit scenes? Pick Romance: it keeps the chemistry and tension front and centre and stays tasteful.
