A game is one adventure in a world. Starting one is free, takes a few clicks, and you can start as many as you like.

Start a game for yourself

  1. Click Create Game_ at the top of the left sidebar.

  2. Choose Single / Multi Player.

How will you play? with Single / Multi Player highlighted, and Community Vote and Discord beside it
  3. Pick a world from Shared Worlds or My Worlds. Filters help you find something by genre, size, language or tone.

Choose Your World with the Shared Worlds tab and a world card highlighted
  4. Click Launch Game. Before you do, you can choose how dangerous fights are with the Showdown setting at the bottom: Heroic, Balanced, Perilous or Off.

The selected world with the Launch Game button highlighted

Your game opens with the first scene. Games start text-only; you can paint scenes whenever you like. See How does image generation work during gameplay?.

Playing with friends in your own game is on its way. Until then, play together with a Community Vote or Discord game.

Start a game for a community

Choose Community Vote or Discord instead. These games are played by votes, and a few more steps appear:

  1. World: pick the world.

  2. Images: choose a Visual Experience: Pure Text, Storybook (pictures at key moments), Cinematic (a picture for every new scene) or Periodic (every few turns).

  3. Art Style and Image: pick the style and your hero’s picture (skipped for Pure Text).

  4. Launch: name the game and set how voting works: how long a vote stays open, how many votes close it early, and whether events are posted automatically or after your review.
